President's Message:

The German-Jordanian University demonstrates potential of international partnerships between foreign and Jordanian enterprises. The university, founded in 2005, has already made a name for itself for its high standards and varied offerings. The University is modeled on the German fachhochschulen, characterized by its focus on putting knowledge into practice and on promoting knowledge transfer. The university model and partnership concepts envisioned translate the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II, with regard to modernizing the teaching and learning processes in universities, upgrading scientific research, developing dynamic curricula oriented towards market needs,  and providing quality education.

Professor Peter Uecker, Vice President's, Message :

”… The success of the German Jordanian University as a pilot project in the region has been welcomed” Joint German-Jordanian Press statement, after a visit of King Abdullah II to Germany, Nov. 14^th, 2007 

This statement of King Abdullah II and Chancellor Angela Merkel about the GJU has pleased us, of course. We consider this as approval for the work we have done and as incentive and challenge to continue on this way.  

It is a special way: An approach to combine the best of both worlds: The flexibility and creativity of the Jordanian / Arabic world with the systematic and planning approach of the German / European world. All of this in a special institution for Higher Education: the German "Fachhochschule". 

This idea of "Fachhochschule" is committed to a way of teaching that provides students with knowledge based on a reliable theoretical foundation with direct reference to practice and market needs. The students will be faced with the special requirements and conditions of their chosen field of study not only from the prospect of a manger out of his office but rather with the eyes and conditions of worker sin real life situations in workshops, laboratories, and construction zones.  

To speak with a picture: the students are expected to soil their hands.

The students shall experience this in three different situations: in the laboratories of our university, in Jordanian companies and finally during a half year internship in Germany.

So at the end our graduates will be well prepared for employability, being able to communicate at least in the three languages Arabic, English and German and being trained thoroughly theoretically and practically in to different socio-economic cultures.  

We know that this is an ambitious, strenuous goal. But for sure: All endeavors are worth it.
