Quality Assurance and
Accreditation:
|
|
Realizing the importance of Quality Assurance and Accreditation the
GJU leadership decided to add a Quality Assurance and Accreditation
Unit to its organizational chart, in order to start thinking about,
planning and taking the first steps towards ensuring quality for the
university as a whole and for the different programmes in particular.
The
leadership also realized that benchmarking the GJU to the best
universities abroad will help the university move in the right
direction. Being a young university makes it easier to take the
necessary steps to follow the right track towards quality assurance
and accreditation.
After
searching for the appropriate tools to be used, it was found that
there are many organizations and associations that can help in that
aspect.
In
Jordan, an independent Higher Education Accreditation Commission was
formed following the Accreditation Council that was functioning at
the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. All the
new regulations adopted by the Commission should be followed by all
the Public and Private universities in Jordan.
The GJU is doing its
best to cooperate with the Commission and fulfill all its
requirements, but the real thing will start only after moving to the
GJU permanent site.
Other organizations are actively participating in
the quality assurance and accreditation processes required for
universities in Jordan. The GJU is looking forward to cooperate with
these organizations.
One of
these organizations is Al Hussein Fund for Excellence which
organized a programme arranged through the Fund for "Promoting
Excellence in Higher Education: Capacity Building in Quality
Assurance, through Strategic Planning for Quality Assurance". The
GJU participated in this programme.
Another
programme is the "United Nations Development Programme for Enhancement
of Quality Assurance & Institutional Planning at Arab Universities".
Contacts have already been made to include the GJU in any activities
concerning quality assurance organized by the UNDP in that respect.
