Introduction |
|
Energy Technology refers to the knowledge of and usage skills
required for conversion, production, transfer, distribution and
use of energy. This leads to the mastering of technology based
on the laws of nature, as a result of which different forms of
energy can be used to serve the needs of mankind in such a way
that nature is spared and the economic resources of society are
taken into consideration.
Energy and the environment is a new and rapidly growing field
of sustainability, which is " meeting the needs of the future
without compromising the ability of future generation". This is
critically relevant to how it develops in the near future.
Solving global energy problems is a great challenge to human
ingenuity. What would be a major source of energy: Oil nuclear
energy, renewable energy (Solar, Wind, Water, biomass, waves
…etc.)?.
Most of the all world countries have announced plans to switch
towards renewable energy and away from fossil fuels. It is very
important for society to implement this objective, to improve
energy efficiency and to reduce environmental pollution
The
studying program of energy technology offers the student the
opportunity to obtain extensive skills for jobs that require
expertise in energy technology in all sectors of society.
The
Studying program will give the graduate BSC degree of
engineering in energy technology broad skills in the
dimensioning of equipment in the field of energy technology and
in the energy technical and economical design of equipment and
distribution systems.
The
areas of emphasis of the degree program are technical expertise,
the management of the environmental effects in energy economic
processes, the business economic design of the entire energy
conversion, production, distribution, and usage process,
environmental technology and international energy business.

Justification |
|
The Proposal for establishing such
a program is motivated by:
-
Increasing demand on energy
consumption, the potential of global market for energy and
environmental technologies and services is currently valued
at US$ 515 billion and is forecast to increase to US$ 688
billion by 2010, an annual growth rate of almost 3%. This is
a substantial market, comparable in size to pharmaceuticals
or aerospace.
-
Therefore, increasingly,
across world wide, engineers, designers and scientists are
developing energy and sustainable design technologies.
-
There is a needs for
specialists, who understand the technological principles
behind energy technology and environmental friendly
solutions.
-
The growing interest in
renewable energy conversion technology world wide ,
therefore there is increasing demand on skilled engineers of
renewable energy conversion technologies.
-
There is no academic
institutions in the region that offer comprehensive studying
program in energy technology, specially in the field of
renewable energy technology.

-
to master the most common
tasks in the field of energy technology and develop this
scope of activities as well as for the student to be
prepared to carry out post-graduate studies.
-
To have an overall
understanding of the effects on society and the environment
of the technical solutions of energy management.
-
To be familiar with the
economic principles of energy management for society.
-
To master the special issues
of the domestic market industry, export industry,
construction industry and government and public sectors, the
areas of emphasis of which are environmental and energy
technology.
-
To couple theoretical
knowledge with practical information systems through the
strong knowledge of the models and methods in the field in
question.
-
To develop the skills of
students to commercialize their ideas, work as entrepreneurs
and operate in the international energy business.
