Introduction |
|
The
Department of Environmental Engineering is a dynamic and
integral part of the Faculty of Applied Natural Sciences.
Intensive collaboration between Jordanian and German Professors
is underway to` build one of the largest and most successful
programme of its type in Jordan.
The
program provides students with professional qualifications,
basic skills and hands on experience in areas of great
importance to the community in the sense of insuring continued
protected environmental systems, conserved natural resources and
well managed industrial–related activities. The program is
attractive to students who have in mind a career involving
environmental and related infrastructure development. The School
of Natural Applied Sciences administers the program.
Graduates from the Department of Environmental Engineering are
to be highly employable and command some of the best starting
salaries. Leading organizations from Jordan and the Gulf region
are to regularly recruit from GJU and many offer more graduate
employment opportunities to our students and graduates than to
those of other universities.

Objectives&
Outcomes |
|
The
broad objective of the program's undergraduate programs is to
develop well-educated graduates with the basic skills,
attributes and knowledge required to practice as professional
Environmental Managers. The desired skills are those that enable
graduates to be problem solvers; critical thinkers; life long
learners; good communicators; team players; independent
investigators; effective managers; self-motivated; and
economically, environmentally and socially aware.
It
is intended that these attributes are developed in students at
the same time that they gain knowledge in a broad range of
disciplines. In addition, an objective of the programs is to
provide the skills and knowledge in a social context for direct
impact on the community with sever environmental deterioration.
Integrating courses in each year of each program (the
Engineering Practice courses) have been introduced to achieve
this objective.

Research activity is carried out by the program’s staff and by
future postgraduate students working towards their research
degrees. Furthermore, undergraduate students will also play a
significant role in research undertaking their final year
thesis. The range of research projects undertaken within the
departments covers all the sub-disciplines of Environmental
Engineering and includes both fundamental and applied research.
