Introduction |

Designers translate ideas and information through a variety of
media. Their particular talent lies not only in the traditional
skills of the hand, but also in their ability to think and
communicate strategically in design and marketing terms.
This Program combines theory and practice, adopts a
process-oriented approach, and focuses on social and
environmental responsibility. It aims to graduate experts in a
wide spectrum of design fields that meet current demands and
anticipate the future needs of society.
The backbone of the study plan is the Design courses. These are
supported by a large variety of theoretical and practical
courses covering various fields such as, corporate identity,
book, newspaper, and magazine design, illustration, urban
graphics, digital photography, typography, and production
processes; web-site design, multi-media and animation, and video
games design; animated graphics, special effects in film and T.V.
production; and the design of small and large products,
exhibits, packages, and products with micro-chips.

Objectives |

The
B.A. Program in Design aims at acquainting the student’s by the
creative problem solving abilities through the following:

Providing
students with comprehensive coursework in the visual,
functional, socio-economical, and technical aspects for
cultivating creative thinking and artistic sensitivity.

Strengthening
students’ abilities to think and communicate strategically
in design and marketing terms.

Developing
students’ visual, written, and oral communication skills,
and enhancing their creative use of advanced computer
software packages related to their specialty.

Emphasizing
diverted thinking and use of multi-intelligences

Emphasizing
teamwork and coordination among all design fields.

The Program in
Design offers the students by proper work opportunity in
professional offices as part of the Study Plan. They learn how
the profession works and obtain direct knowledge of professional
practices. They realize the expectations, opportunities, and
gain a realistic perspective on career interests and aptitudes.
By graduation, they will be more valuable professionals.
Graduates work as designers and art directors at some of the
best corporate and consulting firms, educational and
governmental institutions, as well as non-profit organizations.
Graduates of Design are highly employable and command some of
the best starting salaries in Jordan and regional countries

Courses will be mostly conducted in English (and
exceptionally in Arabic). Arabic equivalents of local
technical terms in the design industry will be provided to
the students. Students will be also subjected to intensive
courses in German language.

in German speaking countries.
