On behalf of my
colleagues, I welcome you to the School of Informatics and
Computing.
Computing remains a vitally important part of modern
civilization, responsible for many of the most important
changes to the world in which we live. Success today is
directly linked to information literacy and competencies
that include the ability to access information
infrastructures and manage information.
The School of Informatics & Computing has a goal that is
centered, first and foremost, on a commitment to meet local
and regional IT industry needs and requirements. Our plans
are to build a new setup of education in the field of
Informatics and Computing that fosters technological
advancement, applied research, experiential learning, and
professional excellence, relevant, and oriented towards
market and industry needs, and quality assured to meet
international accreditation standards. Our degree programs
are designed to prepare our students for a wide range of
endeavors in the field of information technology,
interactive software system, embedded technology, hardware
design, and computing sciences, and play a serious role in
shaping the future of Informatics and Computing.
Following the recommendation of the National Agenda for
Higher Education in the plans of the school has created a
background for a dynamic IT education by optimizing the
selection of the necessary practical setup, maximizing
technical and managerial skills for IT students, calibrating
and maintaining state-of-the-art technology to be used
efficiently, and proposing strategies to enforce high
quality achievements for interdisciplinary teams. Our plans
are to create proper collaboration schemes with public and
private IT sectors, industry, and international experts,
maintain a process of an on-going university-industry
coordination, in Jordan and Germany, and develop dynamic
curricular, regularly reviewed and updated to ensure its
relevance to the informatics & computing sector in the
region.
