Students interested in logistics and cargo support gained valuable insight about logistics operations during a company presentation on Aqaba Logistics Village (ALV) which was organized by GJU’s Logistics Study Department in cooperation with the Office for Industrial Links. In the presentation which took place on 27th of November 2016, Mr Hakam Abul Feilat, General Manager of ALV, gave an overview about the company’s different businesses and the transportation sector in general.

The company operates in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone and is a regional hub for logistics and cargo support. Their products and services include warehouse storage and handling, open yard storage and handling, cross-docking and cross-stuffing, a container freight station as well as a service center with office space to rent for customers or clearing agents. With a third phase of development to start in 2018, Aqaba Logistics Village provides interesting career and internship opportunities for GJU logistics students. Especially the language skills and the international experience combined with practical training set GJU logistics students and graduates apart from other universities. A discussion about opportunities with ALV in special and the Logistics sector in Jordan in general rounded off the event.

The presentation was part of GJU’s strategic goal to enhance the cooperation with industrial partners and to give students the possibility to connect with company representatives and get insight information about the business related to their studies. Dr. AbdelRahim Alsoussi, Head of the Logistics Department, thanked the representative of Aqaba Logistics Village for his efforts to visit GJU and to present his company to the students and faculty.
