Biography

Mustafa Alshawaqfeh received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA, in 2017, M.Ss., degree in wireless communication from the Jordan University of Science and Technology, Irbid, Jordan, in 2010, and B.Ss. degree in communication engineering from Yarmouk University, Irbid, Jordan, in 2007.  He joined the German Jordanian University since 2017 as an Assistant Professor.  In September 2021, He promoted to an Associate Professor in the EE department. His research interests span the areas of wireless communications, signal processing, machine learning, and bioinformatics. In the area of wireless communication, he worked on (i) applying signal processing, mainly sparse recovery and tree search algorithms, to develop efficient low complexity receivers especially for spatial modulation schemes and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems, and (ii) analyzing the performance of wireless MIMO systems over fading channels.  In the area of bioinformatics, he is working on applying signal processing and machine learning techniques to analyze biological datasets with the focus on developing algorithms for metagenomic biomarker detection. Dr. Alshwaqfeh serves as a reviewer for several prestigious journals and conferences.
