DSR Research Funding Programs

Deanship of Scientific Research (DSR) provides counseling, funding, and support services to faculty and students to conduct genuine research and produce quality publications. In addition, these services aim to enhance the researchers' experience and guide them along their journey to complete their national and international research projects.

GJU regulations and guidelines state that there are two methods to fund research projects:

DSR Internal Funding for Scientific Research

Faculty can benefit from three Internal Funding opportunities DSR provides:

Support for Cluster grant:

Cluster grant aims to:

Enhancing cooperation between faculty members in the joint scientific research field contributes to achieving the university's strategic scientific research plan objectives.
Building a research facility in a research field capable of growth and development in a specific field of knowledge.
Supporting projects that are compatible with national priorities and can contribute to making a scientific or technical shift at the national level.
The Deanship publishes an annual call of applications for cluster grants, given the available budget allowances.
A maximum of two cluster researches can be supported annually, given the budget allowance
The council will formally recognize any research application for a cluster grant meeting the criteria to give them visibility through the university website.

Support for Seed Grants

Seed grant aims to open new research channels for researchers at the university, provided that there is a possibility to obtain granting for these channels from external parties to support the continuity of research.
The deanship publishes an invitation every semester for applications for a seed grant.
Applications for seed grants are evaluated and compared by a committee formed by the Council upon the dean's recommendation.
The principal researcher who was previously granted a seed grant is not eligible to apply for it again.

Complementary grant

A complimentary grant aims to fulfill obligations for projects funded by external parties, and the maximum value of the support is 10% of the university’s share in the project. More details can be found in the guidelines and regulation section.

Supplementary grant

The supplementary grant aims to enable researchers the completion of projects funded by external

parties, with a maximum value of JOD 3000, for a period not exceeding six months. More details can be found in the guidelines and regulation section.

Bridging grant

Bridging grants aim to support projects funded by external parties during periods of interruption of external support. More details can be found in the guidelines and regulation section.

Support for student-projects

Student project grants aim to support undergraduate and graduate students’ theses and projects, and they are awarded according to the following procedures:

The value of the support is a maximum of JOD 1000 at the bachelor’s stage and for a period not exceeding one year for each project.
The value of the support is a maximum of JOD 3000 at the postgraduate stage and for a period not exceeding two years for the project.
The number of projects supported under the supervision of a faculty member is a maximum
of two projects annually.
The council shall evaluate, compare, accept, or reject any applications.

Research assistant grant

A research assistant grant aims to grant a research assistant in research projects and is awarded according to scientific research regulations.

Grants for Scientific Research from Outside the University Budget

Scientific research fund

The Scientific Research Support Fund provides funding to help Jordanian scientists advance research in national priority areas (see priorities of the year 2018).

Proposals for national research funds can be submitted following the SRF published guidelines.
