Would you like to get to know the German Parliament? 

The concept

Once again, the German Bundestag, in cooperation with the Free University of Berlin, Humboldt University and the Technical University of Berlin offering a five-months (13-weeks) scholarship program which is geared to highly qualified and politically motivated young people Who have the will to return home after the end of the program and participation in shaping their democratic future in an active and responsible manner.

Every year, The Bundestag gives young people an opportunity to get to know each other during their work of a Bundestag member on the parliamentary system and political decision-making processes, and to gather practical experience in the field action and awards around 120 scholarships to young graduates from 44 nations, including the Free University of Berlin, the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin.

 

The program is under the auspices of the Bundestag President and it lasts every year from the 1st of March to the 31st of July

 

The scholarship

Participants will receive a scholarship of 500 euros per month. The Bundestag will also cover the costs of health, accident and personal liability insurance. In addition, accommodation in an apartment complex will be provided free of charge, and the costs of travel to and from Berlin covered.

 

Eligibility criteria

-Citizenship of an Arab country

- University degree (at least Bachelor's degree)

- Very good knowledge of German

- An interest in politics, and social/political commitment

- Under the age of 30 at the start of the scholarship

 

The selection process

The scholarship program is aimed at highly motivated, talented young people from the Arab region who are open to new ideas, interested in politics and wish to play an active and responsible role in shaping the democratic future of their country.  An independent selection panel set up by the German Bundestag will choose the successful candidates based on their professional, social, language and intercultural skills

 

Hint: You do not have to have finished your Bachelor's degree by the time of application. Still, you need to have graduated before the beginning of the scholarship. In such cases, a written confirmation by the faculty is needed for the application, stating that you will presumably graduate soon.
