On Wednesday, April 24, 2019, under the patronage of GJU President Prof. Manar Fayyad the German Jordanian University held the ninth Career Fair, which was organized by the Office for Industrial Links (OIL) in cooperation with the Career Guidance Office of King Abdullah ll Fund.

The event was officially opened by GJU President, Vice Presidents Prof. Atef Kharabsheh, Prof. Dorit Schumann, the Dean of Student Affairs (DSA) Dr. Raed Khasawneh, Britta Kähler the Director of OIL, and visited by a huge number of GJU students and graduates along with faculty and administrative members .

Prof. Manar Fayyad said, “The University believes strongly in the importance and the value of cooperating with the industry. Over the last years, we worked determinedly to establish the right and effective connections for our students locally, regionally and internationally.”

Prof. Manar also pointed to the importance of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation, mentioning the launch of “The Path to Entrepreneurial Universities” event, organized by the Office for Industrial Links (OIL), and the Program Innovation & Entrepreneurship (PIE). This event kicked-off GJU’s topic of the year related to innovation and entrepreneurship and showed a variety of entrepreneurial activities from Jordan and Germany in and around universities to provide platforms for innovative ideas that can be turned into businesses.

Britta Kähler, the Director of OIL stated, “Around 70 exhibitors from different sections are participating in the Career Fair this year. Besides the 40 corporates, it also includes startups and entrepreneurship support organizations, training providers, NGOs, and educational institutions which provides a wide platform for career opportunities in different fields.”

She added, “We are also glad to announce, that KAFD-CGO and the OIL together established GJU Career Services, which provides services to our students and graduates, starting with career counseling to offering volunteering, training, and application document checks for internship and job opportunities in Jordan and Germany.”

Eng. Jamil AlKhatib and Eng. Ali Alghussein, who are responsible for GJU’s Program Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE), proudly announced that this year four startups, which have been established by GJU students are participating in the Career Fair: LessGO, Mosaic, LaQta and Ecope.

The Career Fair is the biggest event held every year at the German Jordanian University, which involves the support of the Public Relations Department, and the Supply, Services and Maintenance Departments.

The organizing team also appreciates the help of all GJU students who supported the companies throughout the entire day in management and organization as company assistants, as well as those who took care of the questionnaires, and the organization of the Career Fair Treasure Hunt, which was implemented for the first time.

Special thanks goes to JICE (Pepsi Jordan), which sponsored the prizes for the Treasure Hunt winners and provided the visitors with refreshing soft drinks!
