Biography

He is currently the Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (SEEIT) and Director of the University Digitalization Project. Prior to that he was the Director of the Information Systems and Technology Center at GJU for about 10 years. He is also the founder and team lead of the software development group at the university. He also lead, and participated in, the analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of the following ERP systems: student information system (MyGJU), E-Banking service, accounting system, financial system, human resources and payroll system, help desk system, supplies system, and online exams system. He directed, and participated in, the IT efforts to transition the instruction at GJU to fully online during the corona virus crisis period. He managed, and participated in the specification of, the following IT infrastructure related projects at the center: smart classrooms, university network (Intranet), IP cameras and surveillance system, data center hardware (servers, storage, cabinets, layout, etc.), video conferencing system, information display system, and the university's website. Previously, he worked for Cadence Design Systems Inc., Chelmsford, USA, from 1995 to 2012. He was a Senior Member of the Consulting Staff as well as a Technical Lead for the circuit simulation and signal integrity analysis technologies in the Allegro Printed Circuit Board (PCB) SI R&D Group. Where he developed efficient and accurate methods to model and simulate s-parameter black boxes, multi-conductor transmission lines, and I/O buffer information specification (IBIS) devices. He also architected the bus analysis flow that is used to design and verify source synchronous memory interfaces such as DDR3. Dr. Al-Hawari has seven U.S. patents and several publications. He is also an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Components, Packaging and Manufacturing Technologies (TCPMT).
