About the Department

The German Jordanian University established a unit for Accreditation and Quality Assurance Management at the beginning of the University in 2005. The focus was then on the creation of academic disciplines by the Ministry of Higher Education and their accreditation by the Accreditation Body of Higher Education institutions.

Since the end of 2016, the University has focused on the field of academic and administrative quality assurance management both through the Department of Accreditation and Quality Assurance, which is characterized by the presence of qualified and trained staff in the field of quality management and the continued support of the University leadership.

The Department of Accreditation and Quality Assurance has worked to build an administrative and academic quality system consistent with the privacy of the German Jordanian University. Therefore, the goal was to build, implement and activate the quality system with the expertise of the University's internally trained staff with the help of external expertise and competencies. The Department has undertaken a number of actions to achieve this as follows:

  1. The University has adopted a distinguished graduation project for its students, in which standard procedures were developed for all administrative processes in one of the faculties and hired its graduates in the Department of Accreditation and Quality Assurance.

  2. The Department of Accreditation and Quality Assurance has appointed an employee in each department, college and deanship at the University as a liaison officer for quality affairs.

  3. The Department of Accreditation and Quality Assurance held a long professional course for all quality liaison officers in addition to the staff of the Department of Accreditation and Quality Assurance. It is an ISO 9001: 2015 Certified Quality Consultant, in which a professional and experienced consultant trained about 25 employees for three months on the ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System. During the training period, an academic quality management system was built, with each of the liaison and quality assurance officers doing the work.

  4. After the training session, the quality assurance team started to work intensively with the university departments and college in cooperation with the liaison staff to establish the first version of the standard procedures. More than 90 standard procedures have been completed for academic departments and colleges.

  5. Course (Portfolio) was launched on the system of MyGJU at the German Jordanian University, which facilitates linking the educational process in the classroom learning outcomes for academic programs in line with the framework of qualifications for local competencies (NQF) adopted by the accreditation of higher education institutions and quality assurance.

  6. An advanced audit course (lead auditor, ISO 9001: 2015) was held and recognized by IRCA. Approximately 14 members of the administrative and teaching staff were trained, where the staff underwent intensive training accredited by a trainer.

  7. The first internal audit was conducted in four departments at the university and  Schools through the audit team, which was trained in advance and in the presence of an external auditor and the Director of the Department of Accreditation and Quality Assurance.

  8. Simultaneously with the development of standard procedures, a specialized committee was formed at the university for the purpose of evaluating administrative work and continuous improvement. It is the administrative committee. It consists of the directors of all departments in the University in addition to the Dean of Student Affairs and the Deputy Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.

  9. The Department of Accreditation and Quality Assurance also conducted several questionnaires at the University level for students, administrative staff and faculty members. After analyzing the results of the questionnaire, senior management is briefed on the results in a transparent and objective manner to determine the results of strength and weakness.

  10. A training course (Lead Implementer ISO9001: 2015) was held in April 2019 for more than 30 employees from different departments and faculties of the University. The aim of this training is to develop the quality management skills of the University staff to assist in the process of developing standard procedures in the coming period.

The German Jordanian University has entered the QS World Ranking for 2019 for the first time since its establishment in 2005. The University reappeared among the top 1000 universities in the world the year after 2020, respectively. The University has achieved advanced positions in the local rankings for 2018, and has been awarded the excellent category as one of the best public and private universities in the Kingdom.

The Department of Accreditation and Quality Assurance continues to work hard at the German Jordanian University to ensure that the University has the best centers at the local, regional and international levels and to build a distinct quality management system established by trained staff that reflects the unique image of the university as a bipolar model between Jordan and Germany.
