On Sunday, February 17, 2019, the International Office (IO) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized a welcome meeting for international students- Spring Semester 2019.
The meeting was attended the president of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad, Vice president Dr. Dorit Schumann, the IO team, the Office for Industrial Links (OIL) team, the Dean of the School of Basic Sciences and Humanities (SBSH) Dr. Aqeel Qazwini, Dr. Iman Sha’sha’a and the Dean of the School of Technical Applied Sciences (SATS) Dr. Safwan Al- Tarazi.
The president of GJU, Prof. Manar Fayyad welcomed the students, expressing her admiration of the students to experience a new adventure in different country and culture. She encouraged them to fulfill the exchange goals by learning the culture, the language and mixing with GJU students to maximize the benefit of the experience.
In her speech, Vice President for International Affairs, Dr. Schumann spoke about the dynamic and diversity inside GJU campus, where she explained the importance of having exchange students from Germany and Europe in the university to support the intercultural dimension at GJU.
The OIL team explained the roles and services they offer to GJU students to support them in securing an internship in Germany during the German Year, explaining the OIL's willingness to assist them during their stay, in finding an internship opportunity to learn more about the work culture and environment in Jordan.
Incoming Coordinator, Rakan Al Dweiri, outlined the procedures and steps, the students should follow during their study at GJU, such as health insurance, Arabic language courses, transportation, and registration.
During the meeting, the forty incoming students for this semester introduced themselves and their educational background. They enthusiastically expressed their expectations from this experience, which involved learning the culture, Arabic Language, art and architecture, besides learning about the environmental challenges in Jordan.
It is worthy to mention that GJU offers 19 Undergraduate programs and 14 Postgraduate (Masters) programs, with a student body. The exchange program includes Arabic language training courses, cultural training, internship opportunities, excursions, and activities.
