As a part of  the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Activities , GJU’s Program Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE) under the Office for Industrial Links organized an event “Your Entrepreneurship Career Path: Success Stories” which took place on Wednesday , 16th of November in the Activity Hall Building F.

The event was held in the presence of GJU President Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid, GJU Vice President Prof. Manar Fayyad , Dean of Students Affairs, number of GJU students in addition to companies who presented their success stories.

Britta Kähler, Director of the Office for Industrial Links and Eng. Jamil Alkhatib, Manager of Program for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE) welcomed the participants and introduced the recent activities of PIE. The event continued with presenting the teams from the previous event organized by PIE “GJU Green Hackathon”, which took place on between the 20th and 22nd of October,2016. The participants were handed over their certificates by GJU President Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid.

The event consisted of multiple sessions covering different success stories, some about successful graduation projects that turned to startups such as Saja Muzaini, a GJU graduate, who started her business “Qirtas” that was inspired from her graduation project, Reem Al Smiratt a GJU graduate, is the first female in the Middle East who designs cars that was enthused during her graduation project. And other sessions were about successful startup businesses; Nidal Qanadillo from Oasis500 who spoke about Entrepreneurship in Universities. Omar Rida, a GJU student who established his startup “Audiogram”. In addition to Baha Abu-Nojaim the CTO of Mixed Dimensions 3D, who spoke about their success story.  

In the frame of the GEW, PIE also invited GJU professors to the “Research to Innovation Workshop”, which took place on the 14th of November. It was part of a series of workshops that aim to help building a clear path from Research to Innovation through raising awareness of related approaches and tools and applying them to the research projects. This workshop was about introduction to Intellectual Property (IP) Protection and Patents under the Jordanian Laws. Three speakers gave their valuable inputs: Ms. Rasha Laswi from Zalluom & Laswi Law Firm; Dr. Mohammad Aljaafari from Intellectual Property Commercialization Office (IPCO), and Ms. Zain Awamleh from the Industrial Property Protection Directorate at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which was followed by a lively discussion about this important topic.
