On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, the Counseling and Empowerment office in the Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized a lecture titled: “My University Pressures between Anxiety and Achievement” for the Students, presented by Dr. Shaima’a Aweida from “My Life Alphabet” Center.

The lecture aims at introducing students and guide them on how to deal with stress and university challenges and provide psychological support for them to overcome these pressures.

Aweida explained the concept of values, which means a set of principles, teachings and ethical controls that determine the behavior of the individual. Pointing out that one of the most important reasons for the pressure is that the person does something that he or she is not aware of and this pressure generates an inability to accomplish.

Aweida stressed to students the importance of having a plan and clear, realistic goals, in addition to knowing the motives that lead to achieving the goals. She pointed out that many do not set their goals for fear of failure.

At the end of the lecture, there was a discussion with the students about the reasons for feeling the pressure and ways to overcome it.
