Amman- 17 July 2022

The Dual Studies program at the German Jordanian University (GJU) successfully continues. The number of partner companies increased from 35 last year to 63 this year. The increase is even more impressive when looking at the number of students. While 32 students started their Dual Studies last year, the number has increased to 66 this year. Currently, 10 majors at GJU are offering dual tracks of their programs.

‘Dual studies really gets a momentum’, states Dr. Nidal Alshwawreh, the Dean of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH Deanship), the Deanship is responsible for coordinating the Dual Study programs at the GJU. He added, that this success is due to a joint effort from all departments offering Dual Studies this year.

The majors of Logistics Science, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering and International Accounting are continuing their Dual Studies program, newly opened this year are the majors of Computer Engineering, Mechanical and Maintenance Engineering, Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering, Architecture, Management Sciences and German and English for Business Communication.

Dual Studies is an approach that connects theoretical knowledge with practical experiences. Students who are studying within this track will finish their university education with more than one year of practical experience in their study field due to the regular practical phases they spend each year in their associated partner company.

Dual Studies was established to react on the demand of the private sector to better prepare students for the actual needs of the job market, hence as a reaction to the lack of practical relevance of academic education in Jordan. By alternating practical and theoretical phases during the regular study time, students will be ready and prepared for their career directly after they finish their Bachelor Degree.
