Fifteen participants from Germany visited the German Jordanian University (GJU) on a business trip organized by the BVMW (German Federation of small and medium-sized enterprises) to discover Jordan and learn more about the country’s economy, culture, history, and business opportunities

As part of their program, the delegation was welcomed by GJU’s President Prof. Ala'aldeen Al- Halhouli, and Vice President Prof. Ralf Rosskopf who provided a comprehensive overview of GJU’s development, strategic goals, study programs, and possible fields of collaboration with the industry.

The delegation was further introduced to GJU’s new Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH), visited its Innovation Lab, and received further information on GJU’s Dual Studies program as a sample of a new format for successful collaboration between industry and academia in Jordan.

Since the shortage of skilled workers is a highly discussed topic in Germany, especially among SME’s, GJU and the delegation elaborated also on the possible collaboration in the field of preparing Jordanian skilled labor for the German job market.

To better understand the Jordanian labor market and Jordan’s corporate culture, the German delegation also visited two of GJU’s partner companies, Hikma Pharmaceuticals, and DHL Express. During their visits, they were welcomed by the top management of the companies, and introduced to their business and operations in Jordan and globally, including intense chats and discussions about business and labor market-related topics.
