On Thursday 13 December, 2018, German Jordanian University (GJU) organized the closing ceremony of the “Hult Prize” Competition, which considered as one of the largest competitions for students in leading entrepreneurs. It aims to adopt a global objective of the United Nations Development Program annually.The President of the University, Prof. Manar Fayyad, said during her patronage of the ceremony which was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Office for Industrial Links “I’m proud in the participation of the university students in the competition for the second year”. Noting that this participation is an opportunity for youth to engage them in creative pioneering projects.
She stressed that the university continuously supports the student’s initiatives, especially the leading entrepreneurs, where the University embraces a program and platform for creativity and innovation in order to motivate them for creative thinking and to come out with entrepreneur projects.
The entrepreneur Abdullah Abu Sheikh said "The time has come for youth to create new jobs”. Stressing that the "Hult Prize" calls on youth to believe in their abilities and potentials to realize their dreams by designing innovative projects that make change and impact in the world.
The Hult Prize- Campus Director Gheed Rousan, said that the participation of students is an opportunity to come up with initiatives and ideas to establish entrepreneur projects and find successful solutions by various means and ways to the theme of the year subject which is “Youth Unemployment in Jordan”. And she thanked the university, participants and the jury.
On the ceremony, a discussion session on unemployment in Jordan was held with the participation of Dr. Fayyad, Director of GIZ, Dr. Michela Baur, President of Kawar Group Kareem Kawar and CEO of Injaz Dima Bibi.
The participants in the session stressed that the future is for youth through enhancing their abilities, skills and encouraging them to find jobs that match their educational outputs, their potentials and with the needs of the labor market.
The six participating teams reviewed their entrepreneur projects in front of jury the judgments, where three teams qualified to compete at the national, regional and international levels.
At the end of the ceremony Fayyad handed out certificates on the winning projects for this year; Courier Bee Team, Etain Team and Xerapf Team.
