The Deputy Director of the British Council Ms. May Abuhamida and her colleague Ms. Lisa Collett visited GJU in order to have an informative meeting about the university as it considered a pioneer module of “Transnational Higher Education”.  

 

Recognising the need for further investigation to understand the local impact of transnational education, the British Council is currently doing an assessment about transnational higher education projects in Jordan.  Ms.Abuhamida emphasized that the council is looking at partnership opportunities and TNE in technical education at the level of associate diploma, and specifically at GJU as a successful project of TNE.

 

Dr. Yasser Rajjal, Assistant to the President for Communications and Public Relations, gave a brief overview about GJU, the establishment, achievements, and challenges; also he demonstrated several features, which made GJU a unique model in transnational education.

 

During the meeting Ms. Abuhamida and Ms. Collett addressed many inquiries and questions which were answered by Prof. Anton Mangstl , Vice President for International Affairs and Dr. Dorothea Jecht, Director of International Office who both pointed out to  the value and importance of gathering data from practitioners, HE leaders and a range of other sources that can help the British council to  support their project with  perspectives on the academic, cultural, and skills impacts of transnational education.
