Under the patronage of HRH Princess Majda Raad, the” Early Intervention For Children With Multiple Disabilities and Visual Impairment “workshop has inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Ahmad Tamimi, General Director of the University of Jordan Hospital, Prof. Manar Fayyad, Vice President of the German Jordanian University , Dr. Ziad Hawamdeh, Dean Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences , Ms. Ann Mazagobian Abu Hanna, Director of Al-Hussein Organization  as well as representatives from ministries and organizations  that are specialized in the field of Disabilities and Autism.

 

During the opening of the workshop that was organized by the German Jordanian University in collaboration with the Royal Dutch Visio ( Netherlands ), Dr. Ahmed al-Tamimi pointed out that disabilities issue is one of the challenges that facing the Jordanian society, which exceeds the disabled child to include family, community, medical and technical personnel, in light of the health and societal burden on the family, especially the visually impaired.

 

He also praised the efforts of HRH Prince Raad bin Zeid, Chief Chamberlain and President of the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities (HCAPD), and HRH Princess Majda Raad , in addition to their contributions and humanitarian touches standing in follow-up of all issues of children with disabilities.

 

For their parts, Anke Vinke, Neuropsychologist and Ria Waelen , early intervention worker from Royal Dutch Visio gave presentation about Visio Centre that is expertise for blind and partially sighted people of all ages, including those with additional disabilities. The Centre enables visually impaired people to live, learn and work independently and provides its expertise in this area, it also offers living and day care facilities for her clients if needed.

 

They further displayed videos addressing many cases of children with disabilities, and how to use specific approaches to treat them.

     

Dr. Nathalie Bussieres, Director of the Vision Training Centre at GJU and the Coordinator of this seminar in collaboration with Dr. Ziad Hawamdeh, emphasized that this event aims to enhance community awareness in the field of healthcare for people with disabilities, in particular visual disabilities , in addition to provide participants with a range of new and innovative skills, praising the efforts of the University of Jordan Hospital in hosting this important session and provide all facilities .
