The President of the German Jordanian University (GJU), Professor Manar Fayyad formed the higher committee to prepare the university's top strategic plan for the years 2019 to 2023 in line with the human resources development plan and His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein’s vision in the discussion papers.
The committee that is chaired by the President includes Vice Presidents Dr. Atef Kharabsheh and Dr. Dorit Schumann. In addition to the membership of the Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation Department (QAAD) Dr. Anas Atieh, the Dean of the School of Applied Sciences (SATS) Dr. Safwan AlTarazi, the Dean of the School of Management and Logistic Science (SMLS) Dr.Malek Alsharairi and the Director of the Finance Department Miss Sana Faraj.
The committee held its first meeting on Tuesday the 10th of October 2018, where Fayyad stressed the importance of developing a clear strategy with measurable goals to maintain the university’s achievements.
She directed to consider the linkage between the educational and administrative goals, the enhancement of the competitiveness of GJU’s graduates in the labor market, and the reinforcement of its relations with the industrial sector in Jordan and Germany. As well as the German dimension that focuses on the German year, the strategic partnership with German research institutions and more than 111 universities, and the flying faculty program.
During the meeting, the Director of (QAAD) Dr. Anas Atieh, briefed the committee on the work progress, recommending the need of conducting a (SWOT) and (PESTEL) analysis to achieve a clear vision, mission, and strategic objectives.
Atieh added that the desired plan should be assessable, measured and distributed to strategic projects related to the university's budget to grant activation at the level of faculties and departments of the university.
Based on periodic and intensive meetings with all interested parties from faculty members, administrators, students, partners and German donors, as well as the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions, the plan is expected to be completed within the next six months to eventually start the execution over the next five years and measure its impact.
