On Saturday 9th of December 2017, The Visual Rehabilitation Center (VTC), the Office of the Advisor to the President for Community Affairs and the Health Unit at the German-Jordanian University (GJU) organized a free medical day for vision examination to the local community in Naour and Madaba.

The medical day aims to detect acute visual impairment among the community in which cannot be treated with medical glasses or surgical interventions.

Lecturers at the center: Sami Shiblaq, Maysaa Massoud, and Yosr Qutishat performed a visual examination for 37 cases, two cases were transferred to the VTC to conduct a full evaluation.

Director of VTC, Dr. Nassim Al-Nu’man said that people with visual problems face difficulties in performing daily life activities, stressing the importance of the medical day in detecting these cases for rehabilitation and enabling them to use their visual residues efficiently using visual aids.

He added that the center is a non-profit organization that works to rehabilitate people with visual challenges to increase their productivity in society and reduces their dependence on others in their daily lives.

He pointed out that the center targets a unique category whose number is quite big comparing with blind, pointing out that the center is looking to expand its services to cover most Kingdom’s areas in coordination with the concerned authorities.
