Amman- 19 April 2021

On Thursday, April 15, 2021, the German Jordanian University (GJU) joined the Kingdom’s celebrations of the centennial of the foundation of the Jordanian state and the National Flag Day. GJU’s buildings, roads, and facilities were decorated with Jordanian flags.

GJU also distributed flags to the local community in Mushaqar and Madaba to participate in the national campaign “Our flag is high”, which aims at raising Jordanian flags on rooftops to allow citizens to celebrate the occasion from their homes.

The President of GJU, Prof. Manar Fayyad, stated that the centennial of the founding of the Jordanian state is a historical occasion that embodies the Jordanian achievements and sacrifices under the leadership of the kings of Bani Hashem, adding that the university had prepared a comprehensive program of artistic, cultural, scientific activities and events to celebrate the occasion throughout the year.

Fayyad praised the support of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein to GJU, as His Majesty indicated years ago during a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel that GJU is one of the most significant achievements in Jordan.

On another hand, Fayyad praised the German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel's wishes to Jordan, where Merkel stated that GJU is an example of the close bonding and future-oriented partnership between Jordan and Germany.
