GJU brought its longstanding cooperation with SAP to the next step. With the opening of the SAP Next-Gen Lab on its campus under the GJU Innovation Space – Program Innovation and Entrepreneurship, GJU joins a global network of more than 3,300 educational institutions in 111 countries that are collaborating with the public, private, and academic innovation ecosystem to drive innovation and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Next-Gen lab opening, which is the first of its kind in a Jordanian university, was officially announced at the SAP Refugee Code Week 2017 in October last year and is now branded as part of GJU’s Innovation Space “InnoACT” (GJU Campus Building M003).
Students can build skills, help to disrupt innovation, and re-imagine the future of industries with the SAP Leonardo digital innovation system. The SAP Next-Gen Lab provides new channels to share thought leadership and collaborate with other thought leaders in academia and industry on the technologies and innovation methodologies driving the digital transformation of industries.
The lab educates students with knowledge and skills for digital futures and connect companies recruiting next generation leaders with students and graduates who have digital transformation knowledge and skills.
The Next-Gen labs opportunities were presented to GJU students in an initial introductory session by Wissam Kadi, Regional Director-EMEA South- SAP Next-Gen under the presence of representatives from Advanced Business Solutions (ABS) and Intrasoft, SAP business partners in Jordan.
SAP, through its representative Ziad Swidan, Territory Director Levant, also partnered in GJU’s second adapt2job training, where students where challenged with new technologies related to IT in Supply Chain and introduced to SAP HANA, an in-memory data platform to accelerate business processes.
The cooperation with SAP started in 2013 when GJU joined the SAP® University Alliance program, a global community network that provides access to SAP knowledge pool and enterprise solutions to stimulate students’ learning of integrated business and systems concepts relevant to their chosen fields. Students are offered SAP-ERP Navigation training courses under the SAP University Competence Center (UCC), especially before starting their German Year in order to even be better prepared for their internship search since many companies in Germany require SAP knowledge.
One year later GJU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SAP Training and Development Institute FZCO, based in Dubai, UAE, which aims to bring academia and industry closer together in a Dual Study Education Program (DSP) in which students gain intense knowledge in SAP applications and support in facilitating their internship with SAP headquarters or SAP based partner in Germany.
