Amman- 2 November 2020

Dr. Ala’ Khalifeh from the School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (SEEIT), at the German Jordanian university (GJU)  has recently received the Best Presenter certificate for his paper presentation (DOUBLE MOBILITY WSN: EXPLOITING THE MOBILITY OF SINK AND CLUSTER HEAD NODES FOR BETTER WSN ENERGY PRESERVATION AND LIFETIME).

The paper was presented online during the IEEE International IOT, Electronics and. Mechatronics (IEMTRONICS) conference that took place from Sep 9-12th 2020 in Vancouver, Canada, where around 120 technical papers have been accepted and presented

The paper discusses an important topic in the field of Mobile Sensor Nodes (MSNs) which have been recently proposed to leverage the performance of conventional static Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). The authors proposes to energize both the sink and Cluster Head nodes with mobility, such that wireless communication path loss is minimized thus preserving the sensor nodes energy and extending the network lifetime. The performance evaluation of the proposed scheme shows a superior performance over other related work in terms of extending the network lifetime, and preserving the nodes energy.

The paper subject is related to the "Hybrid Sensor Network for Emergency Critical Scenarios" that was supported by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Science Peace and Security (SPS) program. Grant No. (G4936), which was conducted in the period from 2015 to 2019 with the participation of partners from Italy and the US. Further, the project was conducted in collaboration with the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB) as the project industrial partners and potential end user.

The German Jordanian University congratulates Dr. Khalifeh for this achievement and wish him all the best.
