Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness, Princess Basma Bint Talal, the German Jordanian University (GJU) celebrated the graduation of its fifth group at the Palace of Culture - Al-Hussain Youth City – Amman on Saturday, 22 November 2014.

 

The event was held in the presence of Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid, GJU President, Mr. Ralph Tarraf, the German Ambassador, His Excellency Eng. Othman Bedeir, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the GJU Vice presidents, Deans of Schools, and Board of Academics and Employees.        

 
In his speech, Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid  thanked HRH Princess Basma for honoring GJU graduates for this year which comes at an important juncture, the “Tenth Anniversary of GJU” that is expected to be launched in the coming May of 2015.   In addition, he expressed his pride of the graduates, and their great success, saying that our students proved capable of beating the challenge and coping well with the demands of a new and challenging education.   
 

Besides that, the President affirmed that the university has achieved a high reputation and became a unique example of Jordan’s high education, because of the great efforts that have been made by all GJU previous and present staff and leadership.  

 

Furthermore, prof. Abu Obeid would never forget to extend his gratitude to the wide network of collaborations with the German partners, mentioning DAAD, the German Ministry of Education and Scientific Research; Magdeburg University; and the German Embassy in Amman, as well as the local and national sides. 

 

For his part, Dr. Yousef Al Abdalat, Dean of Students Affairs, called on the graduates to exploit their skills and experience, being decision makers, having their own vision, to build a bright future of Jordan and to be always on the vanguard. 

 

On behalf of graduates, Musa Lutfi, Maha Tatanaki and Reem Smeirat gave speeches in the Arabic, English and German languages. They all thanked their families, teachers, and their beloved GJU as well for the excellent education, experiences and friendship they earned.

 

At the end of the Ceremony, HRH Princess Basma distributed  certificates to the graduates in recognition of their outstanding academic performances and wished them more progress and success in their professional life.

 

It is worthy to mention that Prof. Abu Obeid presented a Mosaic Panel  to HRH Princess Basma , as an appreciation for her support  and patronage of this ceremony.
