The German-Jordanian University (GJU) and Fulda University of Applied Sciences have been awarded a contract by The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to implement an innovation center for logistics in Jordan.
Starting in February 2021, scientists from both universities will cooperate with several logistics industry partners from Jordan and Germany for the next three years to implement the concept. The total project budget is around 440,000 euros.
The main goal of Jordan Innovation Center for Logistics (JOINOLOG) is to bring logistics experts from academia, governments, NGOs, logistics industry to work together to leverage logistics sector capabilities in the country. In the long term, JOINOLOG will bring forth innovations in the field of logistics and support start-ups in the sector.
The project that is now being funded builds on the results developed in the first sub-project by a research team from School of Management and Logistics Sciences (SMLS) and Fulda research team (Prof. Michael Huth, Mr. Jakob Grubmüller and Mr. Sascha Düerkop). The project phases include the final structuring of the organisational structure, the responsibilities, the planned center activities, and to handover to the local decision-makers. Regular joint workshops are planned in Jordan and at the House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM) in Frankfurt am Main.
