Amman- 18 January 2021

Based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed between the German Jordanian University (GJU), and the Ministry of Education in 2013, regarding the Alabdalliya Basic School for Boys, the Assistant to the President Office for GJU Campus- Jabal Amman, performed a maintenance campaign at the School, nearby the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) in Jabal Amman.

Under the MoU, the Ministry pays GJU an amount of thirty thousand JD in exchange for renting the school site; in return, GJU performs general maintenance for the school on an annual basis, with a value of no more than five thousand JD.

The president of GJU, Prof. Manar Fayyad, indicated that this work is a translation of the University’s mission in supporting and developing the local community, which is one of the main roles that universities play towards local communities.

Fayyad added that based on an understanding with the Ministry of Education, GJU took the responsibility to support the school and its students to provide a better environment for study and creativity since SABE moved to Jabal Amman in 2013.

For her part, the President Assistant, Ms. Ikram Al-Naji, said that GJU took the initiative in line with the Ministry of Education's decision of resuming the education offline.

She thanked the Maintenance Department at GJU, who performed renovation that included painting all school facilities and electrical installations, maintaining the sanitary facilities and the school's internal and external yards.
