The German Jordanian University (GJU) ranks the top in research funding from Jordan’s Scientific Research Fund among Jordanian universities, with a total of 182.530 thousand Jordanian Dinars. This amount represents 26% of the total financial support to research institutions as announced by the Director of the Scientific Research Fund Dr. Abeer AlBawab during the signing ceremony of the funding agreements with the winning researchers from Jordanian universities.

Acting President of GJU, Dr. Manar Fayyad indicated the importance of funding agreements in strengthening the collaboration between Jordanian universities and the Scientific Research Fund as well as in supporting young researchers to develop new ideas and innovations.

She added: “the funding to GJU will provide research labs with new equipment and technologies and will assist researchers in gaining high experience in the field of applied scientific research”.

Dr. Salem Al-Agtash, Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, expressed his Gratitude to the Scientific Research Fund for financing three projects, mentioning that the project entitled “A Data Mining Approach for Localization the Needle in Ultrasound Images based on Ultrasound Radio-Frequency and Doppler Signals” submitted by Dr. Mohammad AlDaoud from Computer Engineering Department, got the highest amount of funding for this year.

The other two project are: “Acousto Optical Modulators for Free Space Optical Communication” submitted by Dr. Raed Mesleh from Electrical and Communication Engineering Department and “Development of Multiphase Flow Thermal-Hydraulics Model for Nuclear Reactor Fuel Assembler” submitted by Dr. Dia Zeidan from Mathematics department.

It is worth mentioning that the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research established a “Projects Unit” to oversee the implementation of project and to provide the necessary support to researchers.

Currently the unit manages more than 100 projects funded by different sources. This large number of projects is a result of GJU's strategic dimension in supporting academic staff to conduct research and in providing means and incentives to excel in applied research and innovation.
