The German Jordanian University (GJU) has achieved an advanced position in Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2021, the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For the second year in a row, GJU managed to be among the best (301-400) universities globally, twentieth place in the Arab world, and the second locally. It achieved the SDG 17 – partnerships for the goals (looks at the broader ways in which universities support the SDGs through collaboration with other countries, promotion of best practices, and publication of data).
The classification depends on the impact of university partnerships in achieving sustainable development, research impact, and partnerships to support goals. GJU maintained its position among 1154 universities in the world representing, 96 countries.
According to the classification, the German Jordanian University was distinguished by the education for goals and partnerships. It obtained the highest possible score (100%).
The President of GJU, Prof. Manar Fayyad, indicated that the university is an incubator for many initiatives and projects that support sustainable development goals such as Master of Science in Humanitarian Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, besides the many partnerships and existing projects like the Syrian Jordanian Education Program project supported by the European Union.
