The Vice President for International Affairs at the German Jordanian University Prof. Dr. Ralf Roßkopf and the President of Yarmouk University, Dr. Zaidan Kafafi, discussed ways of cooperation between the two universities in various fields, especially in the field of refugees, where the two universities will organize on October a special conference on the current refugee situation and protracted displacement.

This conference, which will be organized by the Department of Social Work at School of Applied Humanities and Languages in GJU and the Refugees, Displaced Persons and Forced Migration Studies Center at Yarmouk University, comes within the framework of the GJU topic for the year 2020 on “Migration, Refugees and Fighting the Root Causes for Displacement”.

Roßkopf expressed the GJU willingness to cooperate with Yarmouk University to organize the refugee conference, given its active role in discussing matters related to refugees with the participation of specialists and those interested in the field of asylum from various international and local organizations and institutions.

Kafafi indicated that the cooperation between Yarmouk University and the German Jordanian University to organize the Fourth International Conference on asylum will have a positive impact on the success of the activities of the conference that will be held next October, calling for setting goals and themes for the conference that would enable decision-makers to find effective solutions for the various issues that refugees face on the territory of the Kingdom.

It is worth to mention that the Department of Social Work runs two programs related to the topic, one Master and one Professional Training Certificate on “Social Work: Migration and Refugees”, which ; both enjoy a very good international reputation.
