The German Jordanian University (GJU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Public Security Directorate represented by the President of GJU, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, and the Brigadier General Dr. Mutasem Abu Shattal, Assistant Director of Public Security for Management and human Support to establish a student club for community peace in the Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA) in cooperation with the Community Peace Center in the directorate.

The MoU stated for training courses and scientific workshops for students to build their capacities and increase their awareness of the concept of community peace and combating extremism, in addition to a set of specialized regular scientific meetings, to develop youth leaders and immunize them in a manner that serves the security and the safety of the society.

Dr. Al- Halhouli expressed his pride in the participatory work with the Public Security Directorate, stressing the university’s endeavor to build solid partnerships that enhance its role in serving and developing society and the nation, indicating the importance of introducing the concepts of innovation and the university's readiness to cooperate with the Directorate in this field through the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship that was recently established.

In addition, Dr. Al-Halhouli presented the programs and projects offered by the university, particularly the master’s program and diploma in social work/ migration and refugees, and the Syrian-Jordanian education project run by GJU and funded by the European Union.

Dr. Abu Shattal said that the Public Security Directorate is taking promising strategic steps to combat extremist ideology and immunize young people through the Community Peace Center, indicating that the Directorate is working continuously to deepen cooperation with universities and all institutions of the local and international community, to ensure the promotion of the concept of a culture of community peace.

The signing ceremony was attended by GJU Vice President, Prof. Malek Alsharairi, the Dean of DSA, Dr. Thelal Oweis, the Vice Dean of DSA, Dr. Hani Mohsen, and from the Directorate, the Deputy Director of the Preventive Security Department and the Director of the Community Peace Center.

The delegation toured GJU campus, where they visited the School of Applied Medical Sciences (SAMS), the School of Technical Applied Sciences (SATS), and the Library.
