On Sunday 29th of July 2018, the Social Work Department at the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL) and the Consultation and Training Center (CTC) at the German Jordanian University (GJU), celebrated the graduation of the fourth batch of the Professional Diploma of Social Work: “Migration and Refugees”.

Head of Social Work Department Dr. Sahar Makhamreh, congratulated the students on their achievements and dedication during their study, mentioning the scientific and practical importance of the program in qualifying social workers to confront the enormous and accelerating challenges related to refugees cause.

During the ceremony graduates presented speeches and  their projects they accomplished within the field training of 120 hours with organizations and NGO’s dealing with refugees. They explained how they benefited from the cultural diversity, and learnt about different issues related to the field.

It is worthy to mention that twenty students joined the diploma from five countries including Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Germany and Turkey.

This Professional Diploma is a specialized postgraduate program, focusing on treating the challenges of refugees and migration.

It provides an understanding of refugees and migrants in the context of conflicts and socio-political change, in addition, the program brings together national, regional and international aspects and perspectives to encompass the current pressing issues of refugees.
