On Tuesday, January 19, 2020, the Applied Humanities and Languages School (SAHL) in cooperation with the Consultation and Training Center (CTC) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) celebrated the graduation of German students participating in the Arabic Language and Culture Program in the presence of the President of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad, Vice Presidents Prof. Atef Kharabsheh and Prof. Ralf Roßkopf, the Director of Consultation and Training Center Dr. Omar M. Shubailat,  The Program Coordinator Dr. Thelal Oweis and a number of faculty members and administrative.

The program aims to teach the students the Arabic language and introduce them to the Jordanian culture, customs and traditions with its human heritage.

The ceremony included a speech by German student that he expressed his happiness at the completion of the program, stressing its importance in gaining new experiences such as familiarizing the students with Arab customs and traditions, folk songs, food and the archaeological and historical places in Jordan. The ceremony also included a theatrical performance, poems and Arabic songs performed by the students.

Dr. Oweis explained the importance of the program to students in learning the Arabic language and refining their skills and personalities to be ambassadors of GJU and Jordan in their country.

Roßkopf congratulated the students on this achievement and expressed his delight at the advanced level of learning Arabic and they have become ambassadors for the exchange of Arab culture. Calling on students to encourage their friends and all those around them to come to Jordan with a view to learning the Arabic language and getting to know Arabic culture by enrolling in the program at the German Jordanian University.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Fayyad handed certificates to the participants.

The German Jordanian University established this program in 2014 to teach Arabic to non-native students.
