On Monday, April 29, 2019, the German Jordanian University (GJU) is proud to announce that the International Accounting Department at the School of Management and Logistic Sciences (SMLS) –has earned endorsement by IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants), one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession.

IMA’s Higher Education Endorsement Program recognizes programs that meet high educational standards, enabling students to pursue and earn the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) credential.

The President of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad expressed her pride in this achievement and thanked the faculty members for their efforts. Pointing out that this professional accreditation meets the University's objectives through the provision of academic programs tailored to the contemporary needs of the labor market and increase the competitiveness of university graduates.

The Dean of SMLS Dr.Malek Alsharairi said that endorsement by IMA is a great achievement that will help our undergraduate accounting students better prepare for a rewarding career in management accounting. Adding that GJU has the first and only IMA-endorsed accounting program in Jordan and this is a testament to the quality of our curriculum that will benefit both the future careers of our students and the organizations where they will work.

He explained that to be qualified for endorsement by IMA, schools must meet the following criteria: the program must substantially cover the CMA exam content, the program must have adequate faculty resources to deliver this content, the program must be accredited by a recognized accreditation organization (e.g., AACSB, ACBSP, EQUIS, etc.), and a faculty member must be designated as an IMA Campus Advocate.

The Vice President of the Institute of Management Accountants, Dr. Reef Lawson, said that the Institute welcomes the admission of the German Jordanian University to the list of universities with quality programs that meet the best standards of excellence and quality.

He pointed out that the qualitative accounting program keeps pace with changes and meets business needs and qualifies managerial accountants and financial managers to achieve their future career goals and meet the expected professional skills required by the future business environment.
