The invention of "Smart materials", developed by scientists from the School of Applied Medical Sciences (SAMS) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) and the Faculty of Chemistry at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń was showered with awards during the gala of the prestigious Olympia Hall in London, crowning the International Invention & Trade Expo 2019.
The solution from the German Jordanian University and the Nicolaus Copernicus University "Smart materials" - intelligent separation materials on an activated polymer substrate with defined surface nanoarchitecture "was granted with three awards: the Gold medal of the expo, the Diamond Special Award, the special prize of the World Association for Intellectual Property and Invention (WIIPA Special Award).
The invention is the result of intense cooperation of scientists from Jordan and Poland, Prof. Samer Al-Gharabli from the German Jordanian University- Jordan, Dr. Joanna Kujawa and Prof. Wojciech Kujawski from Poland.
The solution is patented and has great commercialization potential. The application of the invention will allow the production of highly specialized separation materials with defined surface properties, characterized by controlled separation properties.
Surface modification of separation materials, according to the invention, also opens up new possibilities for their further modification and various applications, including the production of dedicated sensors and membranes for medical applications and effective purification of water and air.
