In partnership with the German Jordanian University, Al Ahli Holding Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) division launched an initiative that aims at enhancing the social entrepreneurship and CSR skills among the youth of the country under the theme “Building a sustainable future”.

The initiative and for its 14th edition was launched on Sunday, 9 January 2017 at the GJU campus under the patronage of his Excellency Dr. Khaled Armouti , Governor  of Madaba and Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid , GJU President and in the attendance of Prof. Dorit Schumann, GJU  Vice  President for International Affairs as well as  distinguished  guests and students.   

After the successes that were achieved throughout the subsequent editions in UAE, Lebanon, and the UK, CSR in Action returns this year to Jordan for its 14th edition building on great achievements during the past years, supported and sponsored by many companies and agencies like Fine Hygienic Holding, Pharmacy One and others.

Lina Hourani, Director of Al Ahli Holding Group’s CSR division, said that  CSR in Action encourages experts and institutions to share their knowledge and pay society forward through building a socially responsible generation. She emphasized that through this initiative they focus on youth and provide them with the opportunity to develop and enhance the practice and awareness of CSR and motivate them to design social businesses; helping them to achieve their goals and contribute positively to their communities.

It is worthy to mention that the seven-day event will converge 35 participants from university students as well as 25 speakers and mentors. The sessions are designed to train them on how to develop impactful sustainability projects and social enterprises – from conceptualizing the idea of a business plan of such a project and implementing the plan. Knowing that the best project will be awarded 20, 000 $.  

 

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) refers to business practices involving initiatives that benefit society.
