On Monday 27th of November 2017, The German-Jordanian University (GJU) hosted the launch of the "Future Scientists" competition for schools’ students organized by the Ebtikar Innovation for Creativity Development Association in cooperation with the Ministry of Education in the presence of teachers and students from several schools in Amman and Madaba.
The President of GJU, Dr. Manar Fayyad, said that starting this competition from the University's campus is in line with the University's vision of developing creative thinking among students and motivating the youth generation to innovate, research and experiment, as the University embraces a platform and a program of innovation and Entrepreneurship.
She also pointed out that one of the students of the university won first prize in the 19th Arab Forum for Entrepreneurship in the United Arab Emirates titled “Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the challenges of the twenty-first century”, stressing the importance of the youth generation and its ability to turn the challenges into opportunities and achievements.
The President of the association, Suria Ayyad, presented an overview of the association and its objectives of discovering the potential and development of children and youth by providing various academic, educational and social services to them, especially in the fields of talent, creativity, and innovation.
Ayad explained the nature of the competition and its conditions, areas and objectives in providing students with the methodology of scientists in research, discovery and invention, and motivating science teachers to assist in creating innovative projects, in addition to the involvement of the community and academic institutions in supporting children and young people to build a supportive society of scientific knowledge.
From his side, Madaba’s Education Directorate representative, Mr. Saied Al-Radhouneh, encouraged the students to participate in such competitions and thanked the association in creating this competition for its importance and valuable impact on students.
At the end of the ceremony, student Aya Haitham, and teachers Amna Joudeh and Maha Awad shared some words about the competition and their participation in it.
