On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, The German Jordanian University (GJU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences, information and studies in the fields of communications and information technology.
The MOU was signed by the President of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad and the Chairman of TRC, Dr. Ghazi Al-Jabour in the presence of a number of GJU academic staff and other members from TRC.
Under the agreement, the TRC will train ten newly graduated students from the GJU university annually in the fields of communications and information technology. In addition to allowing the university to benefit from the devices and equipment owned by TRC in examining the quality of telecommunications services and spectrum monitoring devices, whether in preparing student graduation projects or in scientific research and other items that are in the interest of both parties, and informing GJU of the recommendations and activities of the International Telecommunication Union that TRC participates in.
Dr. Fayyad praised during the signing ceremony, in cooperation with TRC, noting the importance of the MOU in providing an opportunity for the members of the academic staff at the university and its students to prepare applied and research projects in the field of communications and information technology.
She also clarified that the various experiences enjoyed by both sides will contribute to enrich studies in the field of communications.
For his part, Dr. Al-Jabour pointed out to the importance of signing the MOU in exchanging experiences, information and studies in various fields of communication and information technology such as mobile technology networks of different generations, applications of Internet of things, cloud computing, cyber security, machine intelligence, artificial intelligence, the impact of electromagnetic radiation on humans and managing the frequency spectrum and monitoring its use.
Adding that, by signing the MOU, the two parties will have to hold workshops and conferences in the fields of communications and information technology, and propose an annual list of modern topics in the areas of communication in which either party can cooperate and encourage a bilateral annual mutual visit between the TRC staff and GJU staff to know the tasks of each of them and the possibilities they have.
