Amman- 5 March 2020

On February 27, 2020, the German Jordanian University (GJU) enlarged its partner network by signing eight more contracts with private sector companies to join the Dual Studies in Logistic Sciences, International Accounting, Industrial Engineering and Computer Science.

The new partners are Ramz Company for Transport, Al Faisaliah Healthcare Systems, Pacific International Lines, Maltrans Logistics, Gargour Shipping, City Shipping, Aramex and Estarta Solutions. The contracts were signed in a small ceremony that took place on GJU campus in the presence of GJU’s Vice President Prof. Dr. Ralf Rosskopf, and Dr. Lisa Barthelmes as representative from the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), which supports the establishment of Dual Studies at GJU. Several faculty members and the Dual Studies team at GJU’s Office for Industrial Links also joined the ceremony.

All companies were emphasizing the importance of the program in adding practical experience as integral part of the studies to the knowledge of the students. ‘I wish there would have been such a program in my university days’, one of the partners pointed out.

Dr. Barthelmes was pleased to see the company network of GJU growing. This shows the importance of Dual Studies and that the German support is targeting the right topic.

Prof. Dr. Ralf Rosskopf who signed the contracts on behalf of GJU stated that ‘The German Jordanian University has two main pillars that set us apart from other Jordanian universities. One is the German Dimension the other is the Applied Sciences Dimension. With our Dual Studies tracks, we are taking this dimension to the next level, as it sets up, formal and solid cooperation with the private sector.’

The Dual Studies partner network consists now of 24 companies who are ready to welcome GJU students. Out of this, 13 companies had already taken students last year and are now going for the second round.
