On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, Within the activities of the Jordan opportunity for virtual innovative teaching and learning (JOVITAL) project, supported by the European Union (EU), which aims to enhance the capabilities of Jordanian universities in the field of e-learning, the German Jordanian University (GJU), under the patronage of its President Prof. Manar Fayyad, inaugurated a laboratory specialized in e-learning.
The laboratory includes several specialized e-learning devices and transcription devices to enable professors to prepare electronic courses with the highest specifications, in addition to a set of modern computers that enable students to access the electronic educational material smoothly.
Fayyad said that GJU is working with partner Jordanian and European universities to develop its capabilities in the field of blended and e-learning by equipping the University with the latest equipment for distance learning. In addition, to develop the capabilities and skills of GJU's professors in the field of blended and e-learning, which enabled us to take the lead during the distance learning experiment that was applied in Jordanian universities during the Corona pandemic.
She indicated that this project represents one of the important achievements within the university’s efforts to equip all schools with smart teaching halls that enable professors to teach electronic and integrated courses to meet the highest international standards in this field, explaining that the university is planning to activate the mechanisms of integrated education in various academic programs and to develop the electronic academic programs that attract students from inside and outside the Kingdom.
Dr. Muhammad Daoud, Head of the e-learning committee at GJU, and the Coordinator of the JOVITAL project indicated that the University is working on developing a specialized center to train GJU's professors with the latest e-learning methods, and to activate the integrated academic education that combines the traditional face-to-face method with e-learning methods, with the aim to enhance the student’s understanding and maximize their interaction with course content outside the classroom.
Daoud added that the University is working to strengthen cooperation with the university's partner European and German universities' network, as part of the university’s plan to benefit from the pioneering experiences of these partner universities in using electronic and integrated learning methods to enhance the methodology of applied academic education that aims to prepare students with scientific and practical skills that meet the needs of the labor market.
