Orange Jordan and the German Jordan University recently announced the conclusion of the training for the first cohort of the Orange Digital Center Club students (ODC) at the university, which was established earlier this year following a MOU between the two parties and with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), aiming at acquiring youth with the needed skills to enhance their employability opportunities and launch their own businesses successfully.

The training was executed remotely during July in line with the health protocols for COVID-19 and included various workshops delivered by professional experts from different fields to develop the participants skills in many ways. The training focused on labor market skills such as effective communication, teamwork, setting goals, CV writing, preparing for interviews and searching for vacancies effectively. The workshops also dived in technical aspects including training on digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), working remotely, holding meetings via social networks, and online marketing.

During a press release, both parties affirmed that the free-of-charge training at the Orange Digital Center Club will provide youth with the opportunity to benefit from the specialized trainers and the workshops in vital fields for professional and personal development, as Orange Jordan continues the expansion of digital education for employment in the Kingdom as one of Orange main pillars for its corporate social responsibility strategy.

The press statement conveyed that the cooperation between both the public and private sectors is a testament of the German Jordan University’s mission in applied education to contribute with an essential part in the enhancement of youth’s abilities in effectively meeting labor market developments and needs inside and outside Jordan, especially from the engineering and management majors.

50 students from various GJU faculties attended the specialized training, which was held as part of the partnership between the university, Orange Jordan Foundation, and GIZ, as it is considered the kick-off for the training activities in the first club of Orange Digital Center Clubs that will be established within the partnering universities across the Kingdom.

This is one of the outputs of the partnership agreement between the global Orange Group and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to enhance youth opportunities in the labor market and support entrepreneurship and digital innovation in 14 countries in the Middle East and Africa, including Jordan.
