On Monday, March 4, 2019, a delegation from Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding visited the German Jordanian University (GJU) to introduce the award in its fifth season of 2019.

The president of the GJU, Prof. Manar Fayyad, academics and students of the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL) met with delegation’s members Dr. Hanan Fayadh, Media Advisor of the Award, members of steering committee Dr. Imtenan Smadi, and Walid Hamarneh.

Fayyad praised the objectives of the award in enriching the Arab culture with translations of creative Arab and Islamic cultural products, in addition to the long-term goal of encouraging mature cross-cultural interaction between Arabic and other world languages through the medium of translation.

On another hand, the delegation praised the scientific and intellectual level of GJU's students during their meeting with them to introduce the award's terms and conditions.

Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding was founded in Doha, Qatar (2015). The Award aims to honor translators and acknowledge their role in building bridges between nations and peoples of the world. Besides, encouraging individuals, publishing houses, Arab and international organizations, and institutions to present interest in creative and quality translations from and into Arabic.
