The School of Management and Logistic Sciences (SMLS) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized a workshop entitled "Ethical behavior in business with example of sustainable textile production", between 12-19 March 2019, within the DAAD program “Higher Education Dialogue with the Islamic World”.

Participants included more than 25 teaching staff and students from five universities including GJU; HTW Dresden in Germany; Europa-University Flensburg in Germany, Russian University of Economics after Plekhanov in Tashkent of Uzbekistan and Namangan State University in Uzbekistan.

At the welcoming ceremony of the workshop Project Coordinator, Dr. Malek Alsharairi, Dean of SMLS, introduced the participants to the most important stages of the project. Further, he addressed the importance of intercultural dialogue between the different cultures in social sciences fields to produce pedagogical classroom materials.

One outcome of the workshop was developing four case studies by four teams each was formed from the three different countries Jordan, Germany and Uzbekistan. After presenting the case studies by the students, Dr. Ismail Abu Shaikha, Dean’s Assistant for Industrial Relations at SMLS and a team coach, commented that the intercultural views could enrich the learning objectives of the case studies.

The participants also presented prototypes of textile products developed by students and ran a survey to collect the opinions of GJU students. The workshop was followed by field trips and visits to several attraction in Jordan. At the end of the program, it was agreed by both SMLS-GJU and HTW Dresden to organize a multicultural summer school.
