The School of Management and Logistic Sciences (SMLS) at the German Jordanian University organized its first Summer School on Entrepreneurship with the partnership of Dresden University of Applied Sciences (HTW Dresden) and the sponsorship of DAAD.

The summer school was held for one full week at King Hussein Business Park. Twenty Bachelor and Master's students from different majors at GJU were carefully selected based on their motivation letters, and accordingly, four teams were formed.

The main objective of the summer school is to enhance the students’ entrepreneurial skills, said Dr. Malek Alsharairi, the Dean of SMLS and the Coordinator of the summer school.

Dr. Alsharairi indicates that such an event has a significant impact on the capacity of GJU students to develop their entrepreneurial ideas and increase the success chances for their start-ups. Four experts from HTW Dresden – Germany, Ronny Baierl, Nils Dahne, René Thamm and Rüdiger Von der Weth, trained the participants on a digital simulation game and on preparing a business plan.

Besides, the Companies Controller in Jordan, Ramzi Nuzha, contributed to the summer school by introducing the process of registering a company and the different types of companies as well as the related regulations and the recent regulatory developments.

Further, two successful entrepreneurs, Mohammad Kilany and Omar Abu Nowar, were guests at the summer school to present their success stories and respond to the students' questions.

In the end, the experts evaluated the performance of the teams on the simulation software, and certificates were issued for all participants.
