The German Jordanian University lunched the opening of its fourth summer school in social work from Sept. 8th to Sept. 28th 2019, supported by the DAAD exchange serves as part of its international projects. The summer school hosts social work students from GJU, University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (FHWS), Lebanese University and Yarmouk University.
Prof. Ralph Rosskopf, Vice-President for International affairs, Prof. Dr. Christine Huth-Hildebrandt, head of Social Work Department at the German University, and Prof. Hannah Reich from The University of Applied Sciences Würzburg Schweinfurt (FHWS) Germany, have welcomed the participants and provided an overview about the German Jordanian University in term of its specializations and project collaborations between Jordan and Germany.
This summer school will be focusing on the perspectives of social work, sociology, and humanitarian logistics, and at the same time, it will shed light on the international, intercultural and inter-religious dialogue between the students, professors and professional experts.
The master students in social work at GJU, MHD Adeeb Ghazi and Mahmoud Mandou presented a lecture entitled "Introduction to Social Work in Jordan." and Ms. Lisa Mends, research assistant (FHWS), followed it with a lecture on the sustainable development goals of the United Nations and its relevance to social work.
The summer school will include a verity of workshops and lectures presented by professional practitioners in Jordan. They will share their experiences with the students during the coming days not only on a theoretical scale, but as well as on a practical scale by visiting different national and international organizations for social work to enrich their international exchange experience.
