The Vision Rehabilitation Center (VRC) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) participated in the International Scientific Referred Conference on Special Education at the Hashemite University entitled: “Accessibility to knowledge Content for Persons with Disabilities” which held on Wednesday and Thursday (13-14 November 2019).

The participation was mainly in the exhibition that aimed to display the assistive devices and tools for people with visual impairment, including presenting different types of magnifying devices and modern assistive electronic devices.

Moreover, the GJU vision rehabilitation team explained the importance of using these devices to increase accessibility, adapt the environment and its effect in facilitating the process of learning and integration/ inclusion in the community. All these devices were clearly basic to increase the independence of persons with low vision and to improve their life quality, whether they are children, school students, university students or community workers, each one from its place and role.

The exhibition included various modern electronic and optical devices in different types for different tasks. The GJU Vision Rehabilitation Center team explained that these devices are offered to the service users with low vision free of charge as part of the university's continuous and long-standing role in community service. These devices were distributed after full functional visual assessment for each patient, by offering the needed training on how to use them efficiently.

The exhibition was also an opportunity to meet participants from different disciplines and countries and presenting to them the training courses offered by the GJU Vision Rehabilitation Center for the specialists interested in the category of persons with visual impairment, which include the blind and low vision.
