The School of Basic Sciences and Humanities at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized a workshop entitled "Heartsaver" in cooperation with the Specialty Training Center in the Specialty Hospital, which comes within March the “Heartsaver” month in the Middle East& North Africa (MENA) region.

The workshop, which was attended by the Dean of the School, Dr. Akeel Al-Kazwini, Vice Dean Dr. Haytham Thawabih and members of the Academic Staff in the school to train and qualify students to deal with emergency and critical cases in the field of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

The Director of the Center, Mohammed Al-Muzain, said that 50% of people who suffer from stroke before their arrival to the hospital due to lack of CPR. Explaining the importance of mastering the steps of CPR, which is an emergency operation carried out by the person in an attempt to maintain healthy brain functions by restoring blood circulation and breathing to save the lives of people with stroke or heart attack until the arrival of the ambulance.

The Specialty Training Center organizes the March “Heartsaver” month each year, which is launched by the American Heart Association and it aims to raise awareness in the community for Hands-Only CPR by training members of the community in all its institutions on the skill of revival, so this will increase the chances of survival and reduce deaths from heart attacks until the arrival of the ambulance.

The students applied the Hands-Only CPR procedure on the puppets and under the supervision of trainers specialized in life support programs.

The Center offers specialized courses in cardiopulmonary resuscitation on different levels and introduces various types of medical and nursing training for medical staff as well as for individuals outside the medical sector.
