B.A. German as a Foreign Language

The BA-program German as a Foreign Language:

the BA program German as a Foreign Language offers three alternatives after the BA graduation: On the one side, the program aims at a work-orientated study plan that enables the students to work and start a career after their first academic graduation. On the other hand students are able to accomplish and extend their studies in the MA program German as a Foreign Language at the GJU. The MA program aims at a career in universities, scientific institutions, and as a whole enables the students to further academic work. As a third point, the BA program educates school-teachers with a major in German as a Foreign Language for a career in schools, in Jordan and in the region.
The preparation for job perspectives after graduation is a strong element of the BA program. Practical training guarantees a successful accomplishment of the BA program German as a Foreign Language. The program itself offers practical courses that are focused on a German and European perspective. These courses teach business communication, computer skills, and soft-skills. Therefore, the development of the English language abilities - together with German - is one of the program goals.
German as a Foreign Language provides fundamental knowledge of the German Language and Culture and imparts the students to scientific methods and theories of Language acquisition and learning. Amidst, the students will obtain critical thinking and are enabled to a reflexive analysis of the German Language and Culture. Critical thinking and self-reflexive, responsible scientific works are key-elements that provide a substantial fundament for later careers. The practical orientation of the BA program and the concept of life-time learning encourage the students to work in a creative and autonomous way. The students can recognise and rate new questions and outline strategies for solutions.
